I noticed that the tail lights on the coach appeared to be rather dim so I removed the lens from one to see what the problem may be.
I discovered when the coach was painted, they painted the inside of the light housings including the aluminum plate which should have acted as a shiny reflector for the light.
The images above show two of the light housings with the aluminum plate painted. This kills their ability to act as a reflector for the lamp. The center image shows a close up of the housing with foil tape applied to form the reflector. The tape was chosen as being easier to install rather than trying to remove the paint from the aluminum. Below, we see all six lights with the foil tape. Note: Foil tape is commonly used in HVAC work and is available at many "home stores" and online. A Google Snoop of the internet will produce many results. It is normally 2" wide. |
