Despite what the NCE manuals may say, you don't need to do any throttle reprogramming to access F0 thru F28 with a Pro Cab or Power Cab.
- To change F0 thru F9, simply press the 0 thru 9 on the keypad.
- To change F10 thru F12, press and hold the SHIFT key and then press F10 thru F12 on the bottom row.
- To change F10 thru F19, press and hold the SHIFT key while pressing HEADLIGHT once. The display will say "F10 - F19". Release SHIFT and press any key between 0 thru 9 to change a function between F10 thru F19.
- To change F20 thru F28, press and hold the SHIFT key while pressing HEADLIGHT twice. The display will say "F20 - F28". Release SHIFT and press any key between 0 thru 8 to change a function between F20 thru F28.
Think of SHIFT-HEADLIGHT as adding 10 each time. So to toggle F23, press and hold SHIFT and press HEADLIGHT twice, release SHIFT and press 3.
Pressing SHIFT-HEADLIGHT a third time will return to the F10 thru F19 display and repeated presses will alternate the display between the F10 - F19 and the F20 - F29 views.
Pressing PROG/ESC at any time will abort the operation.
To display the current state of F0 - F28, press the EXPN key. Press the EXPN key again to return to normal display. (If you have a radio cab, it must be plugged in, the wireless mode commandeers the EXPN key).
The NCE manuals detail a method of reprogramming the OPTION key to do the exact equivalent of SHIFT-0.
I prefer to keep the original use of the OPTION key - a quicker way of setting speed step 0 (returning the throttle to IDLE).
NOTE: HEADLIGHT is the same as F0, HORN is a momentary version of F2. Headlight and 0(zero) both send the same code (80) and are interchangeable.
